Winter Projects

Some winter projects are coming to a close as we prepare to head south for some 505 sailing in St. Petersburg, FL. So far we have rigged 2 brand new Proctor Cumulus masts for 7346 and 7611, mounted a new Waterat HA rudder on 7611, and done various other small rigging changes and refinements.

We have also added a great new tool to the Fleet 13 boat shop. A vertical work dolly that allows a boat to be stored on its side without having to put the mast up. This dolly makes it very easy to access rigging in the center of the boat, and allows the centerboard and rudder to be worked on. Here are some pictures:

This dolly will come in very handy in the spring when we will be fitting a new Waterat HA centerboard in 7611. For now, we are trying to finish all the projects that have been started so that both boats are ready for sailing on January 2.

The first winter sailing session will be excellent. The following teams will be practicing the weekend of January 2-4:

7346 - John Loe/Craig Thompson
7611 - JB Turney/Ned Turney
8629 - Augie Diaz/TBD
8715 - Ethan Bixby/Erik Boothe
8830 - Chris Behm/Drew Buttner

This is a solid cast of characters which includes several world champions and college All-Americans. Fleet 13 is pleased to be part of this training session.
